Repaying Your Loan

When you signed and returned the ABF promissory note, you made a 10-year commitment to repay your loan. We are deeply grateful that nearly everyone pays off their loans in a timely manner so that funds can be recycled to other students in need. Occasionally, someone fails to make payments or stay in touch with us and it becomes necessary to send the loan to a  collection agency which is harmful to credit. We understand that circumstances can make it difficult to make payments on your loan and we are willing to work with recipients who engage with us.

ACS Loan Processing Service

ACS LogoWe out-source our loan processing to a company called ACS (a division of Xerox), so you will receive information and loan booklets on a regular basis from them. At www.acs-education.com, you can view payment information, make a payment for free, sign up for e-billing, and change your contact information.

When Are My Payments Due?

Thanks to a 12 month grace period, your first loan payment isn’t due until one year after you graduate from school. A few months before, ACS will mail you a coupon book detailing the amounts and dates when payments are due. The term of the loan is 5 or 10 years, depending on the term selected when the promissory note was signed. You can also find this information online at www.acs-education.com.

Making Payments

All payments should be made through ACS. You can pay by mail, phone, or online. You can even set up automatic debits from your bank account.

If you have a coupon book, you can send a check to:

The Albert Baker Fund
ACS
PO Box 3295
Milwaukee, WI 53201–3295

If you don’t have a coupon book, you can send a check to:

The Albert Baker Fund
ACS – CP&S
PO Box 7061
Utica, NY 13504

Always remember to include your Social Security # on your check.

Deferring Payments

You may defer payments under certain circumstances, but you must file a formal request. Please contact ACS if you are:

  • Resuming your education as a full-time student
  • Serving in the U.S. military or Peace Corps
  • Receiving unemployment assistance
