Jane is in her very busy fifth year at Portland State University, studying Piano Performance and getting a Minor in Harp Performance – a full schedule for which she had to get special permission. After learning about teaching pedagogy, she was able to take some of the practices and implement them into the lessons she teaches to her young students – an important learning experience, as she dreams of one day opening her own school for young musicians. Her biggest highlight was writing a piece for her composition class, titled The Weeping Willow.
Christian Science is a key aspect of her life. She loves Christian Science and prays daily. She is constantly working on knowing that her every need is met by God. Jane is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Tigard, Oregon, where she serves on the House & Grounds Committee.
“With every challenge I meet – and there have been many with the pressures of academic performance, music study, practice and performance, work as the church organist for my local Christian Science branch – I can feel and see how I’m being led in the right direction over and over.”
